Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness regarding to the breast cancer and reduce the disease’s stigma by educating and awareness people about its symptoms and treatment options. Whatever your age, size or shape it’s important to take care of your breasts. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women around the world, so it’s important to look after your breasts by being breast aware. Awareness of breast cancer is the primary way to decrease the number of people who die from breast cancer. Being breast aware is part of caring for your body. It means getting to know how your breasts look and feel so you know what is normal for you. You can then feel more confident about noticing any unusual changes.

Breast cancer patients who had a family history of breast cancer, and were therefore more aware of the risk factors of breast cancer, are more likely to detect the disease early and also had a higher survival rate, than those who did not have a family history of breast cancer. Most changes won’t turn out to be breast cancer, but if it is breast cancer, the sooner it is diagnosed the more effective treatment may be possible.

Generally speaking, breast cancer awareness programs have been highly effective in getting attention for the disease. Breast cancer receives significantly more media coverage than other prevalent cancers like skin cancer, prostate cancer and so others types of cancers. We also know that black and south Asian women, older women, women in socially disadvantaged areas and women with learning disabilities are less likely to be breast aware, and tend to wait longer before seeing a doctor about a change or to attend screening when asked. The awareness campaign is about raising people’s awareness,to increase the chance of early detection, and thus decrease the fatality rate of breast cancer.

At Breast Cancer Care we want to ensure we can spread the breast awareness message to as many people as possible. There are many different organizations that contribute and communicate peoples of breast cancer awareness and prevention. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women around the world,  That is why every women needs to examine her breasts and underarms regularly every month, to check for any changes.
